Growth, yield attributes and yield of groundnut as influenced by the application of varied levels and sources of sulphur

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in a sulphur deficient soil. The results of the experiment revealed that significantly higher growth attributes were recorded due to application of FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through gypsum and FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through ammonium sulphate. Significantly higher yield attributes were also recorded in the same treatments among the sources application of gypsum proved to be better over ammonium sulphate. Significantly higher pod and haulm yields were recorded on application of FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through gypsum (12.48 and 16.60 q ha-1) followed by the application of FYM+NPK+45 kg ha-1 S through ammonium sulphate which were on par with treatments receiving sulphur. Application of sulphur at 30 and 45 kg ha−1 showed better response when applied through gypsum and/or ammonium sulphate.
