Bio-efficacy of insect growth regulators and entomopathogenic microbials against soybean defoliators

Abstract

The study was conducted in Experimental field of Breeder Seed Production unit, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, College of Agriculture, JNKVV, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh during kharif 2014–2015. The study was planned under RBD, with three replications and eight treatments viz., T1-Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 10 EC @ 375 ml/ha, T2-Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 5.25 + Indoxacarb 4.5 SC @ 625 ml/ha, T3-Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 8.8 SC @ 250 ml/ha, T4-Novaluron (2,6 diflurobenzoyl) 8.8 SC @ 500 ml/ha, T5- Beauveria bassiana @ 1x1012 spores/ml, T6- Metarhizium anisopliae @ 1x1012 spores/ml, T7 - Chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 1.5 l/ha along with untreated control (T8). The results revelled that, Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 5.25 + Indoxacarb 4.5 SC @ 625 ml/ha, Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 10 EC @ 375 ml/ha and Novaluron (2, 6 diflurobenzoyl) 8.8 SC @ 500 ml/ha was most effective to reducing the larvae incidence of defoliators (Chrysodexis acuta and Spodoptera litura) and recorded higher grain yield. Novaluron 2, 6 (diflurobenzoyl) 8.8 SC @ 250 ml/ha, Chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 1.5 l/ha, Beauveria bassiana @ 1x1012 spores/ml and Metarhizium anisopliae @ 1x1012spores/ml were next better treatment in respect to reduce the larval population of soybean defoliators.
