Abstract

Considerable variability with substantial range was observed among parents and their progenies (F1s, F2s) all the characters under study. The presence of substantial amount of genetic diversity among the parents was also indicated by variances. This suggests that the parents chosen were genetically divergent and could be subjected to detailed study for various genetic parameters through appropriate biometrical techniques. The heritability estimate in F2 generation were comparatively higher than in F1 for all the characters indicated that these traits could be improved through selection in segregating generation.
