An experiment was conduced during 2011–12 in Central dry zone of Karnataka, the experiment was laid out in randomised complete block design with sixteen treatments and replicated thrice. The results of the experiment indicated that significantly higher growth and yield attributes were recorded on application of FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through gypsum, followed by application of FYM+NPK+30 kg ha−1 S through ammonium sulphate and FYM+NPK+30 kg ha−1 S through gypsum and FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through ammonium sulphate. Significantly higher seed and stalk yield was noticed in the treatment which received FYM+NPK+45 kg ha−1 S through gypsum (23.73 and 36.37 q ha−1), FYM+NPK+30 kg ha−1 S through gypsum (22.90 and 32.60 q ha−1) and other S treatments with FYM incorporation. Application of farm yard manure and different levels and sources of sulphur resulted in higher crop yield when compared to other treatments.
