Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat in Horticulture farm during 2009 and 2010, to study the performance of cabbage as influenced by organic manures and biofertilizers. Combined use of organic manures and biofertilizers (PSB + AZB) registered head yield at par to control (RDF). The result revealed that growth and yield attributing characters were significantly influenced by the application of different nutrient sources. The highest plant height (19.47 cm and 25.22 cm), number of leaves at different stage 20 & 40 DAP (9.9 and 12.38) and plant spread (52.15 cm) were reported under T10. The maximum number of wrapper leaves (40.83), non-wrapper leaves (11.50), stalk length (7.28 cm), overall plant weight (0.790 kg), head diameter (13.52 cm), head weight (0.54 kg), and yield/ha (23.35 t/ha) were recorded under treatment T10 which was at par with T4. Other parameters viz., weight of non-wrapper leaves (164.16g), root length (33.75 cm), maximum root fresh (42.01g) and dry weight (8.7g) and compactness of head (28.00) were recorded highest under the treatment T4. However, highest dry matter content (6.87%) was recorded under T6. The highest head to root ratio were recorded under T10 (14.36) which was at par with T4 and T8. All the growth parameters were significantly poor under biofertilizers (PSB + AZB) inoculated treatment. However, highest harvest index was recorded under T10 (55.05%) which was at par with T4, T7, T8 and T3.
