Effect of Liquid Organic Manures on Yield and Soil Properties in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Abstract

Foliar application of panchagavya, jivamrut, cow urine, enriched sap and vermibed wash were studied on chickpea (Cicer Arietinum L.) to check their yield, nutrient content-uptake and soil properties at certified organic farm, ASPEE College of Horticulture and Forestry, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during rabi season of the year 2012–13. The results of the experiment revealed that treatment receiving application of BC: VC: CC+Cow urine (2%) (T3) recorded significantly higher grain (952.30 kg ha−1) and stover (1870.55 kg ha−1) yield of chickpea which was at par with treatment T4 and T5 in case of grain yield and with T4, T5 and T2 in case of stover yield. After harvest of crop, soil physical (i.e. bulk density and WSA) as well as chemical properties (i.e. pH, EC, OC and available nutrients) were not differed significantly due to application of various organic liquid.
