Abstract

Sugarcane rust caused by Puccinia melanocephala H. and P. Syd. is one of the major constraints in the production of sugarcane. In order to find out the effective systemic, non-systemic and combifungicides, against Puccinia melanocephala, experiment was carried out under in vitro evaluation of fungicides was carried out with respect to inhibition of spore germination of P. melanocephala Five systemic chemicals evaluated, at 0.1 per cent Tebuconazole gave highest inhibition of spore germination (99.03%) which was followed by Triadimefon (95.54%) and Propiconazole (95.53%) and they were significantly on par with each other. Three non systemic and three combifungicides were tested against P. melanocephala.. among non-systemic and combi chemicals, Captan + Hexaconazole was found to be effective (99.03%) which was followed by Hexaconozole + Zineb (98.07%) and Zineb (96.67) at 0.2 per cent and they were on par with each other.
