Abstract

Twenty rice genotypes of different ecologies are evaluated at Department of Biochemistry of the N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad. The trials were conducted during Kharif season, 2011–12 and the rice genotypes were collected for the evaluation at different during Kharif season, 2011–12 to Kharif season. Evaluation of the physical and biochemical traits in different rice genotypes. biological yield per plant 27.57–88.33g, highest for biological yield per plant was recorded IR 64 (88.33 g), harvest index 32.93–46.72 (%), highest performance for harvest index was recorded by Narendra 359 (46.72%), grain yield/plant 10.27 34.77 (g), maximum grain yield/plant was found 34.77(g) (IR 64), test weight 17.30–32.03g/1000, Maximum test weight was found 32.03g/1000 seed in (6 IRRI). hulling per cent 65.00–76.72, highest for hulling per cent for Improved Pusa Basmati-1 (76.72%), milling percentage 57.17–67.52, Maximum milling percentage was recorded 67.52 per cent in Narendra Usar Dhan-3. Seed length. 7.27–11.37 mm, maximum seed length was found 11.37 mm in Sugandha-4, In respect of seed breadth in different genotypes was in range of 1.69–3.23mm, maximum seed breadth was found in 3.23 mm in CSR 36. Kernel length 5.43–8.91mm, highest kernel length was recorded in case of Sugandha-4 (8.91mm) kernel breadth 1.65–2.88mm, highest kernel breadth was recorded in case of IR 29 (2.88mm). L: B ratio 2.27 5.15, maximum L: B ratio was found 5.15 in genotype Sugandha-4. Aroma for the rice genotypes categorized slight and moderate, total sugars content 0.250–0.323 (%), maximum total sugars content was recorded in case of Narendra Usar Dhan-3 (1.427%) while reducing sugar content 0.250–0.323 (%), maximum reducing sugar content was found 0.32 (%) in genotype Pant Dhan-10.
