Genetic Studies of Variability Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis for Mungbean [Vigna radiate (L.)] Yield and its Yield Component

Abstract

Eleven mungbean genotypes were evaluated for different quantitative traits at Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year 2014. The estimation of genotypic coefficient of variability, heritability and genetic advance were high for seed yield per plant, branches per plant, test weight and pod per plant. The magnitude of correlation revealed that seed yield per plant had positive and highly significant correlation with pod length, pod per plant, plant height, branches per plant, seed per pod and days to maturity. Path coefficient analysis indicated that pod length, pod per plant, plant height, branches per plant and seed per pod had positive direct contribution on seed yield per plant. Hence selection based on these traits wouldbeeffective in improvement of mungbean varieties.
