A study was conducted to evaluate the changes in protein content and the activities of defence related enzymes i.e. peroxidase (PO) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) in root and shoot of diseased and healthy plants of susceptible (ICP-2376), moderately resistant (PKV TARA) and resistant (BSMR-736) varieties of pigeonpea to Fusarium udum at 41 and 142 days after sowing (DAS). The protein content and activities PO and PPO in both root and shoot were found higher in resistant variety followed by moderately resistant and susceptible. The level of protein content and PO and PPO activity content increased in infected plants as compared to healthy.
