Abundance of Insect Visitors and Pollinators on Seed Crop of Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Plenck) Variety GH-1

Abstract

Mean abundance throughout the flowering period in variety GH-1 revealed that Apis mellifera (7.34) was the most abundant visitor followed by Apis florea (6.67), Apis dorsata (2.15), syrphid fly (1.84), and Apis cerana was least frequent (1.22) visitors. Irrespective of species, abundance of bees was the lowest at 0700-0900 h (0.50 bees/m2/5 minutes) and the highest at 1100–1300 h (7.51 bees/m2/5 minutes).
