Abstract

Eight lines and six testers along with their forty eight hybrids were raised in randomized block design to evaluate for eleven yieldand yield-related traits along with oil content. Correlation studies showed that selection on primary branches, secondary branches, capsule number, seeds per capsule and harvest index will increase the seed yield, since these traits had significant and positive association with seed yield. Path analysis indicated that simultaneous selection on capsule number and harvest index will help to improve seed yield in sesame. To improve the oil content, due importance must be given to seed weight as it possessed significant positive correlation with oil content.
