Ascertain the Field Efficacy of Commonly Available Synthetic Insecticides and Plant Products Against Onion Thrips (Thrips tabaci Lind)

Abstract

Among the synthetic insecticides and plant products under test, the overall best performance was found in case of three round spraying of profenofos 50 EC @ 0.01 percent applied at fortnightly intervals starting from 30 days after planting in minimizing thrips population i.e. 5.36, 4.03, 2.30 thrips per plants as against 22.80, 42.72 and 58.43 thrips per plant in untreated control after 1st, 2nd and 3rd spraying which was on par to cypermethrin 10 EC (0.05%) and dimethoate 30 EC (0.03%). The lowest leaf infestation (20.4%) was also recorded with profenofos 50 EC (0.01%).
