Documentation and Scientific Validation of Indigenous Knowledge of Livestock Resources

The study was conducted in six villages of Kusmi and Majhauli Block of Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. The primary objective of this paper is to identify the indigenous knowledge related to livestock resources by tribal farmers in that area. Indigenous technical knowledge, oftenalso referred toas local or traditional knowledge, is the cumulative body of knowledge generated and evolved over a long period of time. The traditional practices of livestock resources are area specific and depend upon the locally available resources. This research covers indigenous knowledge of livestock resources including selection of milch animal, breeding practices, feeding practices and healthcare practices. From the result we can conclude that documented indigenous knowledge related to livestock practice are very useful for farmers. All the documented indigenous practices given to 30 scientists for validation and out of 30 practices 25 got score 3 or more than 3 on five point basis continuum which comes under rational.
