Abstract

An investigation was carried out with the thirtygenotypes of rice procured from Directorate of Rice Research, Hyderabad to study the nature andmagnitude of genetic variability. Thirteen yield andrelated attributes characters were recorded for the genotypes raised in the RBD design with threereplications. Genotypic coefficient of variationplayeda major role for the expression of traits ranged from 3.275 (days to physiological maturity) to 24.332(seedling vigour). Heritability in broad sense rangedfrom 19.25 (1000-grain weight) to67.23 (root length). High genetic advance was observed for traits like rootlength coupled with high heritability, indicating thepreponderance of additive gene action, indicating widegenetic diversity and it may be used in ricehybridization programme for improving grain yield.
