Impact of Organics and Chemical Fertilizers on Growth, Yield and Soil Nutrient Status in Guava

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during the year 2013–14 for Mrig bahar crop of guava at Horticulture Research Farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) to studieson effect of integrated application of chemical fertilizers, organicsand biofertilizers on growth, yield and quality of guava (Psidium guajava L.) under Chhattisgarh plains”. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four replications and twelve treatments. Results revealed significant differences amongst various growth attributes, fruit yield and soil nutrient availability due to organic manures and inorganic fertilizers. The application of 75% RDF+ Cowdung Slurry produced the highest tree height (5.27m), trunk girth (86.83cm), and North-South tree spread (7.34 m) East-West tree spread (7.04 m). The highest fruit yield (14.31t ha−1) was obtained under the treatment 75% RDF + Cowdung Slurry 10 liter/tree and nutrient status of soil like EC (0.49 dsm−1), N (250.31 kg ha−1) and K (415.52 kg ha−1) were also higher under the treatment 75% RDF + Cowdung Slurry. The maximum phosphorus (17.50 kgha−1) availability was found with 75% RDF + PSB.
