GPS Based Spatial Distribution of Sulphur Status on Pulses Growing Areas in Madurai District (TN)

Abstract

The survey was conducted at predominant blocks of pulses growing areas in Madurai district. Out of 13 blocks in Madurai District, six blocks were selected for delineation of sulphur status on pulses growing areas such as Usilampatti, T. Kallupatti, Thiruparankundram, Thirumangalam, Kallikudi and Chellampatty blocks. Surface soil samples were collected from 250 locations of the above blocks in Madurai district (TN) by using GPS. The range of available S in pulses growing areas of Usilampatti block was 2.49 to 5.2 mg kg−1, T. Kallupatti block was 1.6 to 3.5 mg kg−1, Thiruparamkundram block was 1.9 to 3.87 mg kg−1, Thirumangalam block was 1 to 4.2 mg kg−1, Kallikudi block was 2.7 to 5.4 mg kg−1 and Chellampatty block was 1.8 to 4.8 mg kg−1 of soil.
