Abstract

Experimental investigations of Non Thermal Plasma (NTP) generated by parallel plate dielectric discharge system was conducted to study the effect of Voltage-Current (V-I) characteristics for the surface decontamination of bread slices. The experiments, to study V-I characteristics were conducted by high voltage power supply (0-11kV, 50Hz). The V-I curve and power consumed for various electrode distance were studied. A homogeneous uniform discharge was observed with electrode gaps ranging from 2 to 10 cm. The result shows that the power consumed in NTP system for generation of uniform glow plasma was less and is increase when the gap between electrodes increased. A slice of bread were also tested under different voltage and current inputs for surface decontamination.
