Abstract

The experiment was conducted using UASB reactor. Total biogas and methane content was determined while treating paper mill liquid effluent anaerobically. Five levels of HRTs with their corresponding influent flow rate were selected i.e. 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 hours. Level of significance of the treatments was determined by SAS statistical package and it was found that high significant variation among the HRT. The highest biogas production was achieved at 7 hours HRT with influent flow rate of 1.13m3/h.
