Abstract

Training that has little effect on job performance is one of the key challenges all training professionals face. The issue is to understand the topic and specific techniques to get more of classroom learning back to the job. An exploratory factor analysis was done for a survey instrument which aimed to measure perception of training in service industry. The purpose of this paper is to study the validity of instrument in Telangana state in India. The instrument taken for this study is found to be reliable, and with Cronbach’s alpha at 0.97. It is also found that the sample is adequate using Barlett’s test. The objective of the study was to examine the instrument used to study various variables in training; to find out the amount of variance a variable can explain with all the given factors being considered; and to understand whether the components extracted are able to explain maximum variance in the factor analysis. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to validate the measures of this instrument. One prominent factor with an eigenvalue 10.6 was identified that prominent factor was named as transfer of training. It was identified to be the intended construct, and it explained roughly 45% of all the variable variances.
