With increasing competition of survival among the global players; organisations nowadays spend a large amount of time, energy and money on recruiting and attracting candidates to fill positions within any organisation. In a time when companies are in a battle among each other for talent hunt process, the turnover of employees cannot be risked. To succeed with the acquisition of talent, employers must change the way they handle their orientation process of newly hired staff. It has been commonly understood that sooner the employees settle down at their workplaces, they exhibit their productivity. For this reason people need to become engaged, and to make the employee engaged they need to feel that the company cares about them. When employees are engaged in the company, there is a better chance of retaining them with the organisation. This research paper contains data and comments that express a new employee's satisfaction with an extended onboarding process of the new-hire in the organisations of the telecom sector in the state of Odisha. The focus of this research paper is to show how the orientation practices have changed over the period of time not only to explain the inner workings of the company but also spending a few days to explain the operations of the company to new hires.
