The ever-changing dynamic world of business never excludes people management. Newer tools and techniques are always on demand, as the changes and challenges are enormous and rapid. Technological advancements have become a boon for innovative implementation of many practices and help in giving out better deliverables. In a competitive business environment, optimum utilisation of human resources is vital to reach the finishing line called organisational objective. The distance required to be travelled by organisations especially manufacturing companies from ‘Good’ to ‘Great’ depend a lot on their understanding of organisational needs and on their ability to deliver sustained business performance. In this paper, an attempt has been made to explore the competitive challenges encountered by Gen-Y HR Managers of manufacturing industries, and to analyse a few prominent challenges.
