Work Culture and Strategic Employee Relations: The Key Dimensional Approach of Employee Engagement for Sustainability and Growth of the Organisation in the Eve of Economic Downturn

Abstract

In the globalisation era, employee engagement is a vital tool for nurturing the high productivity and performance to drive the organisation towards success. The world of economy is currently dominated by information and communication technology, and it is also becoming very competitive and globalised. So, in the situation of economic downturn, knowledge management, e-commerce and human and intellectual capital are the key concepts in the globalised economy. Motivation plays an important role in a healthy employee relationship. It is important that the employees are well-motivated to extract the best out of them and ensure a healthy relation among the employees. Employee engagement is generally the level of commitment and involvement that an employee has towards his/her organisation and its core values and beliefs. It is a simple idea rationalising the fact that the work culture and high level of employee engagement strategy promotes employee loyalty, retention of talent and increases the productivity and performance of the organisation. Hence, work culture and strategic employee relations have emerged as critical forces of employee engagement that aid in creating value during the economic downturn situations for sustainability and growth of the organisation. This paper mainly tries to highlight the major components of work culture and strategic employee relation, which help in the workplace for employee engagement during the economic downturn situations to create a value for sustainability and growth of the organisation.
