The doctor-patient relationship forms one of the foundations of contemporary medical ethics. Establishing a good rapport with the patients is all the more important for the doctors as well as the patients, as it yields to win-win situation in terms of better health care services for the customers and expansion of patient base to the doctors. Unfortunately, due to various contextual factors, there seems to be a large communication gap between the patients and the doctors, which is detrimental to the health and well being of our society. This paper gives insight in to the ways to strengthen the doctor patient relationship. The article also takes a bird's eye view on the literature of doctor-patient relationship, that furnishes thoughts not only to conduct the research in the relevant field but intuitive to the academicians, practitioners as well as the students. Human beings, be it doctors or any other professionals, come with lot of precincts, which holds good for the patients as well. The awareness of the human limitation becomes all the more important in establishing the trust and faith between the doctors and patients. The DNA of doctor patient relationship is the human face and the human relationship. The human relationship which respects faith, trust, confidence, support and respect becomes the crux of the Doctor –Patient Relationship.
