Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EI) is critical in all aspects of life and can play a significant role in leadership, career development and work life. In the hotel as a workplace, emotions need to be known and positively managed in order to create beneficial interactions among the several parties. Otherwise the relation to the guest can be jeopardised, with consequent diminishing of the satisfaction rate and hence lead to negative publicity. It is therefore true that this specific work environment demands a clear identity of all arrays of emotions, which are experienced in the daily interaction with the guests and within the team. The level of EI of the employees of Hotel Savera is studied and the association between EI and age, gender, income, experience and job satisfaction is explored.
