This descriptive research aimed at analysing the level of awareness about safety measures of occupational hazards of medical laboratory technicians. This study sampled sixty medical laboratory technicians from twenty leading private multi-speciality hospitals in Tirunelveli city, Tamilnadu, using the simple random sampling technique. This study analysed fifteen variables to understand the level of awareness of occupational hazards. Percentage analysis and weighted average methods were used to analyse the data. The weighted average method that analysed the level of awareness of safety measures shows that variables such as use of hand gloves and face masks when collecting fluids from patients, washing hands with bactericidal soap, use of footwear to cope with chillness of the floor and vaccination occupied a high total score, and safety measures such as breathing exercises, cleaning eyes with cold water at frequent intervals, regular breaks and physical exercises occupied a lesser total score. This study gave suitable suggestions to improve the awareness of medical laboratory technicians in terms of safety measures of occupational hazards.
