The present paper analyses the level and severity of household food insecurity in drought prone region of Uttar Pradesh Bundelkhand. The study is based on empirical data collected from field survey of fourteen villages in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh by using well-structured questionnairein the year 2011. The finding of the study reveals that approximately 67.38 per cent households in the study area are food insecure. The paper further investigates the severity of food insecurity based on twenty indicators under four dimensions of food security. The paper also gives the reasons behind the high severity of food insecurity in the region.
