Perception of Geography Students about Teaching Aids and Resources in Higher Secondary Schools of Varanasi: A Comparative Study

Availability and use of teaching aids and resources is vitally important in the teaching and learning of any discipline. This is no where truer than in the case of teaching and learning of geography. Being a discipline concerned with patterns and processes on earth's surface, geography students can learn much with the help of those teaching aids and resources which depicts and explains geographical patterns and processes more accurately and cogently. Therefore, schools should be equipped with teaching aids and resources as per curricular requirements of geography. Geography teachers should also be trained to make use of various aids and resources for classroom teaching purposes. In this context, this paper deals with perception of geography students of higher secondary stage about availability, importance and use of various teaching aids and resources. An attempt has also been made to compare perception of students about availability and use of teaching aids and resources in higher secondary schools of Varanasi district which are affiliated to the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh (UPMSP) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
