Education is one of powerful tool which have ability to change the whole picture of socio-economic development. Unfortunately after so many years of planning, the literacy rate of India as well as Uttar Pradesh is far lower than the other economics of the world. Out of 35 states and Union Territories the rank of U.P. is 31st on overall literacy, 30th on male literacy and 32nd on female literacy. This paper is an attempt to highlight the variation in between the districts in terms of educational facilities and educational status. For this the present study includes two broad indicators like educational facilities (6 variables) and using gender (male and female literacy rate) and regional (rural and urban literacy rate) dimension of educational status (5 variables). Present study used Census and Statistical Handbook data of Uttar Pradesh which is secondary in nature for the period of 2001 and 2011. To analysis the data UNDP standardization method has been used which put data into 0 and 1 range, 0 mark least develop and 1 is highly develop. To highlight the variation in between the decade's coefficient of variation is used. And to show the causal relationship between average rates of facilities development with respect to indicators of educational status development, coefficient of correlation has been calculated. The composite data set shows overall convergence in educational facilities and educational status development except few variables during the decades. Correlation matrix in 2001 shows average value of educational facilities shows positively significant related with the variables of educational status. But in 2011 matrix shows decline in association between educational facilities and educational status due to other factors became more prominent as compared to facilities only. In term of facilities and status progress 49 and 52 districts shows improvement respectively. This could be possible because of initiative taken by the State and Central government in education sector. But there is a lot of things remaining to do and achieved in term of facilities and status. It's time to focus on improving educational status and maintained already existing educational infrastructure.
