Various initiatives over the years have been taken by TERI to combat the challenges of energy access and to provide sustainable clean energy solutions to the un-served segments of the society. Towards this, under the aegis of ‘Living a Billion Lives (LaBL)’, several technological innovations were implemented for the benefit of the community. In this direction, 136 Solar Home Lighting Systems (SHLS) have been deployed among the households of four un-electrified villages of district Golaghat in the state of Assam. This article examines the improvement in the quality of life of people through the introduction of SHLS. These people are residing in the remote and inaccessible un-electrified villages.
