Robust pipeline integrity key to India’s gas-based economy vision

With India planning to almost double its natural gas share to 15% by 2030 and its gas grid to over 30,000 km to meet its gas-based economy vision, it is high time for its policymakers to have a robust pipeline integrity management in place. Even as India plans to expand its gas infrastructure, there have been incidents of pipeline failures, resulting in casualties that have done harm to public confidence.This article, while highlighting the reported incidents of pipeline failure, recommends some probable solutions to strengthen the prevailing pipeline integrity management system.
