Abstract

With the growing need for renewable energy sources, the wind turbines have been continuously improving since the 1980s and 1990s. They have become more cost-effective and reliable. Their capacity to produce power has also increased immensely. Blades are an important part of wind turbines. With innovations, they have been modified not only in design but also in material and technology. As a result, they are now lightweight, economical, noise free, friction and corrosion free, and have increased capacity for producing more angular speed for the same torque with low rotational inertia. Continued technological advances will further increase the lifespan of the wind project and reduce operational costs.
