In rural areas, biomass fuel is the primary source of energy; this contributes to high levels of indoor air pollution. Use of biomass pellets, due to their increased material density, is expected to enhance combustion efficiency, resulting in improved fuel efficiency and reduced indoor air pollution. Therefore, pellets are the modern combustion technology that offers a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional biomass fuels. Pellets are produced from untreated feedstock and burn consistently with minimal emissions in biomass cook stoves. The moisture content of pellets should be below 10% to ensure high-energy output. Additionally, pellets are cylindrical in shape with a diameter of 6 mm and 10 mm with a length of 10–15 mm, which is more appropriate fuel for the domestic cooking applications.
