Educational curricula and teaching methods are changing. One component of the current development of all subject area curricula is the change in focus of instruction from the transmission curriculum to a transactional curriculum. A constructivist approach frees teachers to make decisions that will enhance and enrich students’ development” in these areas. Through constructivist approach of teaching students learn more, enjoyably and are more likely to retain learning. They also learn how to think, understand and apply these skills to other settings. This approach of teaching promotes social and communication skill within a group setting. This paper is an attempt to go through evolution of constructivist approach, comparison of constructivist approach with traditional approach, principles and methods adopted in constructivist approach and areas of profitable use of constructivist approach. This paper also suggests to make constructivist approach more fruitful.
