Knowledge and Uses of Innovative Learning Methods Among College of Education (Warri) Lecturers

Abstract

This survey research tried to find out the Knowledge of and Uses of Modern Innovative Methods of Teaching and Learning by Lecturers. The College of Education, Warri served as the locale. A sample of 100 lecturers was used. A six item questionnaires was used to gather data from the sample. The simple frequency courts and percentages was used to answer the three research questions generated. The result of the study revealed that lecturers in College of Education, Warri barely have knowledge of modern innovative techniques of teaching and learning. Besides, they hardly use these methods due to their inadequate knowledge of the techniques. It is discovered that lecturers in the school of Education and Science fair better in the knowledge and use of the modern innovative techniques of teaching and learning. It is concluded that the gains that will be achieved by the use of the techniques by the students, lecturers, the college and the society might not be derived. It is recommended that the school authority should assist lecturers to update their knowledge of the techniques.
