Investments in quality early education can produce a rate of return to society significantly higher than returns to most stock market investments or traditional economic development projects. The child is born without fear and with a wide-eyed interest in the people and things around. It therefore becomes very important that the family nurture the child carefully, helping her to develop strong emotional bonds with parents and others, to realise her potential and to be a healthy individual physically, mentally and socially. The Early childhood Care and Education (ECCE) of the children, Integrated Child Development Schemes, Anganwadi centres are some of the steps by the Government to improve the nutritional and health status of children below the age of 0–6 years and pregnant and lactating mothers, to lay the foundation for the proper psychological, physical and social development of the child, to reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, mal-nutrition and school drop outs and to prepare the children totally for the formal schools. The present study is an attempt to trace the status of readiness activities organized by the AWCs in Kamrup district of Assam. It is expected that the present study “Status of readiness activities organised by the Angan Wadi Centres in Kamrup district of Assam” reflects the whole state of AWCs of Kamrup district in respect of the number readiness activities conducted. The findings and the suggestion of this study will be useful to the concerned administrator and the policy makers to bring its sustainable improvement.
