CBPR is an approach or orientation to conducing research, not a method. This article highlights the traditional approach vs. CBPR as both the researcher and community act as partners and contributes equality in each phase of research. Benefits of CBPR includes effective use of resources, retention of study participants, quality of data, etc., implications for nursing practice is best proven in area of MCH, non communicable disease. The need for developing a skill building curriculum in nursing is essential and this skill if included could prepare the post graduates to undertake CBPR. CBPR offers hope to translate evidence based models into effective nursing interventions
