Abstract

Every woman in the globe has a right to receive respectful maternity care. Bowser and Hill identified 7 categories of disrespectful and abusive care during childbirth. Respectful maternity care (RMC) is a human right as well as a component of quality of care. In 2016, WHO published eight domains and six strategic areas for a systematic, evidence-based approach for a quality care this aimed at respect and preservation of dignity. Clinical guidelines formulated are standards of care, effective interventions, quality measures, and relevant research and capability building. E LeFevre et al developed a conceptual framework to measure Respectful maternity care (RMC) which is essential to identify the quality of care women receive during pregnancy and childbirth. This model is modified to enable PHC to incorporate respectful maternity care
