Abstract

“A Study to assess the effectiveness of community-based intervention package on prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls residing atChoolai, Chennai.

To assess the pretest level of knowledge on prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls To assess the effectiveness of community based intervention package on prevention of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among adolescent girls.To compare the pretest and posttest level of knowledge on prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls. To find out association between posttest level of knowledge with selected demographic variable.

The study was conducted with Sample Size -70 samples of Adolescent girls, Research Approach- quantitative approach, Research Design- Quasi experiment alone group pre and posttest design, Sample Selection - convenient samplingtechnique, Tool. Preexisting knowledge was assessed by using semi structured questionnaires. After the pretest, community-based intervention package was given regarding prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome to Adolescent girls.After7 days post test was conducted.

The findings of the study revealed that communitybased intervention package had improved the knowledge regarding prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome with paired t test, p<0.05. There is statisticalsignificance in knowledge attainment on prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome shows the effectiveness of community-based intervention package.

The result of the study shows that community-based intervention package was effective in improving knowledge on prevention of polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls.
