Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Occupational Health Hazards and its Prevention among Workers in Granite Industries

Work is considered as a basic part of human life. Most of the adults spend approximately one-third to one fourth of their life time at work. Occupation health is a branch of community medicine which deals with the effects of occupation or work place on human health. Every occupation is associated with one or the other ill effects on health. These workers are susceptible to various morbid conditions by virtue of work place and working conditions and it may range from chronic respiratory diseases to malnutrition. Quasi experimental Pretest and Post-test with control group design was used. Sample size consists of 80 workers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Non probability convenience sampling technique was adopted. Data was collected by using Semi-Structured Interview Schedule. Results showed that video assisted teaching programme was significantly effective in gaining adequate knowledge regarding occupational health hazards and its prevention among workers. There was no significant association between the pre test scores on knowledge regarding occupational health hazards and its prevention among workers and their selected demographic variables. regimen.
