Abstract

Periodontitis severe form of gum disease, caused by bacterial infection, and inflaming of soft tissues around teeth if untreated it erodes the bone that supports teeth, leading to tooth loss. It affects commonly adults, aged 30 years, and around 70% at 65 years. Hallmark symptoms include red, bleeding, tender gums, loose teeth, bad breath, and receding gums. Complete dental examination, insertion of the period on talprobe, and X-ray can confirm the diagnosis. Depending on the severity, medical and surgical management is essential to manage Periodontitis. Good oral hygiene and regular checkup can help in early management and prevent Periodontitis.
