Abstract

A study to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding benefits of outdoor play among school going children (11 – 15Years) at a selected rural area, Salem. The design adopted was quasi experimental (pretest and posttest with control group) research design. Setting of the study was rural area Karipatti, Salem. The sample size was 50 and selected through non-probability convenience sampling technique by using semi-structured questionnaire. Among 50 samples, in pre-test, the highest percentage of samples 35(74%) had inadequate knowledge and in posttest 40 (80%) had adequate knowledge regarding benefits of outdoor play. There was a significant association between pretest scores on knowledge regarding benefits of outdoor games of school children and their selected variables such as age, standard of studying and type of school.
