Abstract

A study to evaluate the effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme (STP) on knowledge and attitude regarding prevention of deliberate self-harm among adolescents in government higher secondary school, Kalapatti, was conducted at Coimbatore. One group pre-test and post-test research design was adopted. The sample size was 60 which was selected by stratified random sampling technique. The data was collected by structured questionnaire and rating scale. In pretest, 25 (41.7%) had inadequate, 35 (58.3%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 60 (100 %) had unfavorable attitude. In post-test, “t” value was statistically significant at 5% level; this study concluded that the STP was effective.
