Abstract

Water is vital for humans, animals and agriculture. The main cause of water-borne disease is through contaminated water. The study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of selected water borne diseases among the mothers of under five children in a selected area at Pandalgudi. Pre experimental one group pre- test and post- test design was adopted and 50 samples were selected by using non- probability convenient sampling technique. Among 50 samples, in pretest, the highest percentage of sample had 62% (31) inadequate knowledge and in posttest had 90 % (45) adequate knowledge regarding prevention of waterborne diseases. There is positive effect on increased knowledge regarding prevention of water borne diseases among mothers of under-five children.
