Non-Communicable Disease Prevalence among Adult Women in a Chosen Village of India

Abstract

Non-communicable illnesses are the primary cause of global health issues. 41 milliondeaths; Obesity, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension are the most common non communicablediseases prevalent and also leading to further complications. The objective is to assess adult womenfor the prevalence of specific noncommunicable disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, andhypertension. A community based cross sectional Survey design was adopted for the study. Thestudy was done among 200 adult women using a non probability convenience sampling. It wasevident that about 59.55% were in the various categories of obesity. 40% of the participants werein the pre diabetic stage and 32.5% were diagnosed for diabetes. The study alerted that noncommunicable diseases like obesity, diabetes and hypertension is also a concern for diseases ofwomen. The results of the present study concluded that there was a need of implementing screeningand interventional programmes to reduce the incidence of non communicable diseases.
