Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a common respiratory pathogen affecting individuals of all ages, especially children, elderly, and immunocompromised patients. It causes a range of illnesses from mild upper respiratory infections to severe lower respiratory tract infections such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia. Diagnosis relies on molecular methods like RT-PCR. Currently, no specific antiviral treatment or vaccine exists; thus, management is primarily supportive. Community health nurses play a vital role in early detection, education, and prevention through infection control measures.
