Abstract

Creating awareness and protecting the sanitary worker is our prime duty and responsibility through education and empowerment them to use the protective measure in their day to day life to prevent health hazards. The study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme regarding knowledge on hazards of waste handling among sweepers. Using quantitative approach, one group pre test post test pre experimental design was adopted to select 30 municipal sweepers by non probability purposive sampling technique. The sample of 30 sanitary workers was included for the study. The results showed that majority of (98%) sweepers had inadequate knowledge.
