Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess for pre diabetes among the staff members and to associate the pre diabetes status of staff members with their selected demographic variables. A descriptive research design was selected for the study. Modified Indian Diabetic Risk Score Tool was used to assess the pre diabetes status. A total of 50 staff members working at MMM College of Nursing and MMM College of Health Sciences were identified using purposive sampling for the study. Findings revealed that 20 staff members (40%) had minimally elevated diabetic risk, 13(26%) had low diabetic risk, 9(18%) had moderate diabetic risk and 8(16%) had high diabetic risk. It further revealed that among staff members 1 (2%) sample was pre diabetic. The mean value of diabetic risk was 9.8 with standard deviation of 4. The study findings also revealed that there was no statistically significant association found between the levels of prevalence of diabetic risk of staff members with their demographic variables.
