Abstract

Upper respiratory tract infection is one of the major health problems among underfive children. A quantitative research approach, non-experimental descriptive design was used and 40 mothers of underfive children who fulfilled the inclusion criteria at Maduramangalam were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using structured interview schedule. Need based education was given to mothers of under five children regarding prevention of upper respiratory tract infection. The result revealed that 20 (50%) mothers has moderately adequate and 7(17.5%) mothers had adequate knowledge and also there was no association of demographic variables with knowledge on prevention of upper respiratory tract infection among mothers of under five children.
