Abstract

Fishing is one of the major traditional occupations worldwide. India is the second largest producer of fish in the world, employing over 14 million people in fishing and aquaculture. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding common skin problems among fishing community. This evaluative study was conducted using one group pre test post test research design. Convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. The post test mean knowledge score of fishing community was higher (17.11) than in pre test (6.71). The mean difference (10.4) of the level of the knowledge was highly statistically significant (p<0.001).
